Originally created by Margaret Rowan of Vineland, Ontario creative stitches were inspired by crewel embroidery. Margaret and her husband Ted Rittermere combined their talents and produced a book on these special effects "A Creative Approach to Rug Hooking" As with all aspects of rug hooking, one new idea generates another and before too long, many more new stitches were developed along with variations of the original ones.
In this book, Ingrid used 20 different stitches in two featured rugs. Complete instructions for each stitch are explained and illustrated with color photos. These stitches include:
