About This Item
Welcome to our new Rug Studio!
We are offering a two and one-half day workshop on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 17-19, 2015 in our Auburn, California studio. We have asked Adrienne Dykes to join us and teach her beautiful antique and primitive style rugs. Sunday afternoon will feature a luncheon and open house for visitors and local rug hookers. Workshop seating is limited, get your seat early! Beginners are welcome to a 9:00 a.m. Friday starter lesson on request, taught by Shelley.
Adrienne Dykes teaches early & primitive style rug hooking classes at camps & workshops around the country as well as at her own studio in McKinney, TX. A rug hooking group gathers weekly at her studio where they hook & share rug hooking information & ideas. Her rug hooking catalog contains over 100 of her own unique pattern designs as well as adaptations of many early rug designs.
Adrienne is widely known for her unique rug hooking style & for her exceptional color planning techniques with both as is & over-dyed wool & other textile mediums. Her private collection of early American hooked rugs designed & hooked by early rug hooking artists, as well as her long time study, practice & replication of these rug styles has enabled her to master many of the early rug hooking & color techniques.
Adrienne's long term experience as an educator provides her with the skills necessary to instruct rug hooking students in the procedures she has developed in order to create early style rugs. She accomplishes this through the use of wide & ultra wide cut wool strips, unique color planning strategies, & other specialized primitive rug hooking techniques.
For students who are not interested in hooking early looking rugs, her techniques & designs can be adapted to a more contemporary look as well.
Please contact Adrienne directly at cliffpadd3@yahoo.com to request her free catalog so you can select your project in advance. Adrienne asks that we choose from her extensive collection of original patterns for this class or bring one of her rug designs that you are currently hooking. Adrienne is currently working on her new "crazy quilt" rugs, used as mats, rugs and tote bags, pictured. Please join us!
We will work from 9:30 am until noon and from 1:00 until 4:00 on Friday and Saturday and from 9:30 until noon on Sunday. Lunch is served each day. Note: Please bring your lunch if you prefer your own food, we are out in the county and there is no fast food nearby!
We are offering a limited amount of shared and private sleeping and shared bath arrangements including daily breakfast and dinner.
Refunds will be given only until March 15, 2015.
